"I set before you life and death, therefore choose life
Deuteronomy 30: 19

There are areas in our life in which we have no choice. These areas may or may not cause us a measure of grief: the family into which we are born, the country in which we live, our financial position or our health may limit us and we have no choice other than to grit our teeth as it were and make the best of it.

But bless God for He gives us a choice to make that can make an eternity of a difference for us if we choose well – and I make no exaggeration when I say AN ETERNITY of a difference!

A choice was presented to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden when a tree was planted there. They were forbidden to eat of the fruit of this tree but sadly they disobeyed and the choice they made has cast the whole human race into separation from the living God. However God in His great mercy and grace provided for them a choice in order for them to meet with Him again, but only on His terms.

Down through the ages God has given to mankind choices and making the right choices has brought them into blessing beyond compare. But, God now gives to people like you and I a choice and He did it when He planted a “Tree” as it were outside the city walls of Jerusalem almost 2000 years ago.

There on the cross Jesus, the Son of God; who is "the way, the truth, and the life" – died – to do away with that which separated us from God – once for all. The question of sin was dealt with there at Calvary by that pure and sinless One, for you and for me.

Sin is a thing most grievous to God who is holy and we must see it as He does.

And when we do we will find that sin is a thing that must be repented of if ever we are going to be in the place where we can avail ourselves of His forgiveness and cleansing. Such priceless things are only available on the grounds of shed blood. This was the price Christ paid to purchase your soul, which is to God a thing most precious. This is God's provision and God's only way to bring people back to Himself where they can come into the best God has to give.

Now, you have a choice to make. This is a divine choice given as an offering of love and mercy to you.

Accepting God's provision and choosing His way may not make any difference to your circumstances for of course you are still a member of your earthly family, nothing can change that but choosing by faith the provision of God will make you a member of His family.

"... As many as received Him to them gave He power to become the children of God,
even to them that believe on His name”
John 1: 12

Your country of origin and place of birth remains the same but in Christ you are a citizen of heaven and fellow citizens with His dear people.

"Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners,
but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God ...”
Ephesians 2: 19

Choosing to trust with all your heart in Christ may not make a difference to your financial position or even your health but making that choice will give to you riches beyond compare, such as this world knows nothing of and true life – abundant life!

"The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ ...”
Romans 8: 17

"I am come that they might have life,
and that they might have it more abundantly.”
John 10: 10

He turns the hum-drum monotony into vibrant living. He turns hopelessness into joyful anticipation. He gives dignity to the soul laid low by a previous manner of living – to put it into the beautiful words of Scripture:

"He appoints them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning,
A garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness”
Isaiah 61: 8

I implore you from the bottom of my heart, do not return to that old life and continue as if you never read this article, because full well you know that it cannot give to you what you so very much need and what God so very much wants to freely bestow upon you. The Lord Jesus said:

"Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
but the water that I shall give him
shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life”
John 4: 14

God will never force His way into the lives of individuals, He simply lays before you the choice and the consequences. The choice is yours.
