Season's Greetings

Here we are again, another Christmas season has descended upon us and now that most of all the hard work is done it is good to sit back and reflect for a little while.

The crazy rush reminds me a little of what it might have been like when our beloved Lord Jesus came into the world all those years ago. The rush and squeeze of the crowds to seek lodgings in Bethlehem during the introduction of a new taxing system. Travellers had arrived from all over the place along with a young couple expecting a baby at any minute.

'No room for them in the inn' the Bible tells us, which sounds very familiar when I look around and see that nothing's changed after all those years!

The world doesn't have time or space for this precious One but for those who do, He has in store a whole host of blessings that the heart is hardly able to contain.

"... Prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts,
if I will not open you the windows of heaven,
and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it."
Malachi 3: 10

He came on a mission the first time to do something for us that we are unable to do for ourselves and it meant a trip from the crib in Bethlehem to the cross at Calvary in the space of only thirty three and a half short years. The life He lived in sinless perfection in between revealed to us the heart of His loving heavenly Father.

Here we are in all our need and God has made full provision for that need in His beloved Son. The debt our sin stacked up, in Him has been paid for in full.  That which has separated us from God has been removed forever.  And the fear and uncertainty of the future has been removed; the promise of a home in heaven awaits us.

All this was already provided for and all the work was done while we were in an unfit state: "God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us." Romans 5: 8.

In order to come into the benefit of this wonderful provision, one essential requirement is needful.  And that is complete childlike trust in the work that has already been done. No fancy prayers are necessary. No special works are needed. Just an honest heart before an all knowing God who already knows your need for forgiveness, and the faith enough just to hand everything over to Him and trust in Him with all your heart.

The world might not have changed in its rejection of heaven's best but God hasn't changed either, and this is something for which we can be truly thankful. The expression of the Father in the Son remains the same for all time and eternity, because the Bible tells us that: "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." Hebrews 13: 8.

So, why not make this the best Christmas season ever by accepting God's unspeakably wonderful gift and receiving Him as you very own personal Saviour? The moment you do with true sincerity you will begin a path you will never regret.

Happy Christmas everyone - see you soon  ♥

Merry Christmas, Amanda. You continue to be a great blessing to me through your website and music. I can't wait to hear your new song. Praying for God's sustaining grace for you as you have obviously had a tough past year. For a number of months now I have been listening to the gospels read by Alexander Scourby over and over; it is good to supplement detailed study of the Word with the '10,000' overview' level. I have been richly blessed again at the loving kindness of our Lord to everyone who came to Him in faith. May God richly bless you as you continue faithful to Him! Wayne
