"Godliness with contentment is great gain." 1 Timothy 6: 6
Most of us have such a lot to be thankful for. While there some who are much better off than what we are, there are many who are worse off in comparison.
How much wealth, ease or even health will it take to make us feel as if we have enough when some don't have any of these privileges and yet they are content?
Those of us who are God's children don't really have any excuse to mope and feel underprivileged. Look what we have because of faith in what Jesus our beloved Lord and Saviour accomplished at the cross. We have life, we have the promise of His presence daily, we are acceptable to the living God and we have a home and inheritance awaiting us after we leave this life.
A friend of yesteryear once told me how frustrated she was at the plight of the poorest of earths people. Then she came to this conclusion that although she can do little more than pray for these dear people she can at least be thankful for what God has chosen to bless her with. Imagine how it must grieve the heart of our beloved Lord to look down and see us take for granted all the blessings that He has so generously bestowed upon us.
