My Resting Place

I hear a voice ... the sound of my beloved ‘tis He.
My heart rejoice ... His lovely voice is calling me
To quickly come aside and hear what He would say.
In Him I safely hide and there I want to stay -

Under His tree ... sheltered there from earthly night,
His fruit to me ... fills my soul with great delight.
None can to Him compare: it’s He who makes me whole.
He’s fairer than the fair, the chiefest to my soul.

All by his grace ... here I find eternal rest,
This lovely place ... leaning on His lovely breast
‘Til earthly life is passed, and I am on my way,
‘Til day break comes at last, and shadows flee away.
