The storm in attempting to spoil my peace,
And toss my small bark on the sea,
As the troubles of life came upon me like waves;
I learnt that He careth for me.
I then couldn’t see it, for dark was the night
That hid my dear Lord from my view.
The howl of the wind, it unsteadied my path,
And my cares and my fears they all grew.
He seemed to be sleeping, I felt so alone!
Then I thought: 'though He sleeps, He’s still there.'
I trusted His promise to see me right through
And I cast upon Him all my care.
He rose up to strengthen my tottering faith,
And commanded my storm to be still.
I learnt in the storm that He cares for my soul
And His purpose in me He’ll fulfil.
