There is however no such promise for the words of man, for inevitably his words are tainted in one way or another, even though perhaps in the very smallest way.
Now, there is nothing quite like the pure un-tampered Word of God to touch the souls of individuals. It brings sinners to an understanding of their need of the Saviour, bringing them to repentance toward God and to faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. The Precious Word of God brings comfort to the weary, worn and sad and uplifts the one who is ready to faint along the way.
However, if we want to see a crop of fruit yielded unto God then it stands to reason that we must sow the right kind of seed – “Precious seed!” Now, there are lots of different kinds of seed around these days but only one kind of seed has the ability to yield the kind of fruit that gives pleasure to God. ‘Precious fruit' will only come from the sowing of ‘precious seed’.
It was the Lord Jesus Himself who told us: “the seed is the Word of God”. And also if John tells us “The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us …”, could this be the reason why God the Father condemns all who trifle with the sacred contents His written Word? Man, even good and godly men, however well meaning, have tried in their wisdom to ‘simplify’ the words of Holy Writ so that it can be more easily understood. But I wonder if God can actually bless these efforts down through the generations? The ‘precious seed’ has been tampered and altered in such a fashion that it has become rather like a ‘GM.’ product. You may be able to plant a GM seed and it will germinate and produce a crop, but ‘thus far and no further’. It is a lifeless seed that cannot produce fruit “after its own kind”. Not only is it barren but also it is harmful to the environment causing a great imbalance. So it is also with misuse of the Word of God – there are often sad repercussions and serious spiritual imbalances caused by sewing the ‘modified’ type of ‘seed’
Be encouraged, those of you who wish to remain faithful to the Word of God. Yours is not such a small and insignificant task after all! You have in your possession the ‘precious seed’. Sow it faithfully, wherever you go, and inevitably some will fall on ‘good ground’.
